چکیده

The aim of this study was to establish a preferred methodology for updating of the spatial database and monitoring the changes of a settlement in Tanzania. In summary, change detection problems can be viewed as the consequence of an increased desire for up-to-date information about the development and changes in a GIS environment to guide urban planners, urban decision-makers, and managers. Two methods that have been used for change detection are: semiautomatic change detection using on-screen digitizing and digital classification and segmentation methods. On-screen digitising of changes shows that (as a pilot study covered only one aerial photograph) this method is fast, convenient, and (depend to the application) complete. The result of segmentation and classification for finding the changes in the settlements Dar Es Salaam, shows 73% accuracy when the result of on-screen digitizing is used as a reference map for evaluation and by using existing knowledge such as roads and object geometry contained in the GIS database. Classification and segmentation can be used to derive information from an aerial photograph. The nature, variety and usefulness of such an information would have to be considered according to the project at hand, i.e., the structure of the area, the type of available aerial photograph, and the type of information to be extracted.

Land cover land use mapping and change detection analysis using geographic information system and remote sensing

Land cover/land use categories are relevant components in land management. Understanding how land cover/land use change over time is necessary to assess the consequences of humans and natural stressors on the earth’s environment and resources. The aim of the study was to map and monitor the spatial and temporal change in land cover/land use for the periods of 1977, 1991 and 2016 and to predict ...

Simulation and prediction of land use and land cover change using GIS, remote sensing and CA-Markov model

This study analyzes the characteristics of land use/land cover change in Jordan’s Irbid governorate, 1984–2018, and predicts future land use/land cover for 2030 and 2050 using a cellular automata-Markov model. The results inform planners and decision makers of past and current spatial dynamics of land use/land cover change and predicted urban expansion, for a better understanding and successful...

Detection of Land Use Changes for Thirty Years Using Remote Sensing and GIS (Case Study: Ardestan Area)

Due to the increase of changes in the land uses mainly resulting from humaninterferences, monitoring the changes and evaluating their trend and environmental effectsfor future planning and management are essential. In the present study, an attempt is madeto observe the changes which had occurred in Ardestan area during a period of 30 yearsusing some satellite images. Different kinds of data for...

Object-oriented Per-parcel Land Use Change Detection Integrating Gis and Remote Sensing

Urban is more sensitive to the change of land use/cover. The up-to-date information of land use/cover is very important for urban decision-making and sustainable development. Very high resolution satellite data are an alternative to monitor, update cartographic and geographic databases. In this paper, an object-oriented pre-parcel land use change detection approach integrating GIS and remote se...

Assessing Geomorphologic Changes of the Mehran River Delta using Remote Sensing and GIS (Bandar Lenga, Hormozgan Province)

Delta areas are dynamic features with changes occurring at many spatial and temporal scales due to catastrophic events. Change detection and providing a fluvial map of changes are the main requirements for environmental and zonal planners in many studies. Geomorphic changes such as temporal and periodic changes in riverbeds are common events in all delta areas. The Mehran river delta is located...
